Jenna Ortega News: Grabs Global Cover for Vogue Mexico!

From Vogue Mexico:

“In her projects, she has transcended the stereotype of the Latin American character (you only have to watch Merlina or Beetlejuice to see this), but there is still a long way to go when it comes to the expectation of representing a specific model of Latina: “Although I am proud and know who I am, what my upbringing and my history with my culture is, I think I have seen some frustration from not having grown up in a Spanish-speaking country. It is difficult for me not being able to speak Spanish, and I try hard. I do, I speak to my dad in Spanish, I write, I read, but I am very insecure when speaking and I don’t want to offend anyone, and that has been a very delicate point for me,” she admits frankly, “there is a lot of pressure, especially because you see them as your family or your community and you want to impress them more [the Latin audience]. Sometimes it is a bit of a brutal feeling, but then you get home and remember that this is what it is all about, you meet a young Chicana in a small grocery store, and she hugs you, you talk to her mothers, and you see how significant that “It can be for people. So I don’t want to take that away from anyone. I’ll always be proud, I’ll always be curious, and I’ll learn more, but I also understand that my experience isn’t everyone’s.”
