“We came from the barrio ourselves, and we understood the community..” recently lamented Retired José Selvera, a former Houston police detective and original member of the groundbreaking homicide unit, known as “The Chicano Squad.” His interiew with KATU Lifestyle comes on the eve of their new Documentary debutinf over two nights. The Chicano Squad has special premieres on Monday, September 2nd and Tuesday, September 3rd at 9:00 p.m. on A&E.

According to ABC13Houston, “The month of August marks 45 years since a group of five bilingual Houston police officers broke barriers while fighting crime in 1979.”
