Satisfying “Venom: The Last Dance,” Positives outweigh the Negatives

by Rosa Parra

The Venom films have always been a source of pure entertainment, and “Venom: The Last Dance” is no exception. Directed by Kelly Marcel, this movie takes us on another thrilling adventure with Venom and Eddie.

I walked into the theater expecting a lighthearted, fun experience, and that’s precisely what I got. The film is packed with action, heartfelt moments, and plenty of hilarious situations, capped off with a thrilling third act. This installment of the Venom trilogy delivers in every way, though it will mainly appeal to fans of the previous films.

Tom Hardy once again convincingly portrays Eddie and Venom. Thanks to Hardy’s portrayal, I genuinely feel that Eddie has a symbiote within him. Like the previous two movies, this one follows a buddy comedy format. However, it raises the stakes, making them more impactful due to the events of earlier entries.

There is an introduction of a family who Eddie/Venom runs into. Their interaction is hilarious and has a payoff in that third act.

“The Last Dance” does have its drawbacks though. There are moments of cheesy dialogue, and some scenes that can feel silly or demeaning. The story and execution aren’t perfect, and there are also instances of convenient scenarios that might stretch the viewer’s suspension of disbelief. However, the positives outweigh the negatives.

There are two post-credit scenes, so make sure to stay for those. The visuals were good and more noticeable during the third act.

Overall, “Venom: The Last Dance” is an entertaining film that remains faithful to its predecessors, making it a seamless and satisfying addition to the Venom franchise.

7/10.
