Jenna Ortega says “Horror,” is her home!

Jenna Ortega was honored at this year’s SAG awards and part of the pantheon of “Scream Queens”, in the genre of horror films. Other actors spotlighted included Jamie Lee Curtis, Neve Campbell and Linda Blair. The horror movie genre has found a great home with mainstream moving going audiences in recent years. In particular the Latino moving going audience in the US, per McKinsey & Co.,. “Relative to their 19 percent share of the US population, Latinos are a significant driver of both opening-weekend attendance and total box office revenue. They account for 24 percent of film ticket sales, 29 percent of daily mobile TV viewers, and 24 percent of streaming subscribers.”

One could argue that Jenna and the Latino audiences revived the dying SCREAM franshise. Also recently in Deadline “Cineverse saw a tripling in its Scream Box streaming subs after Terrifier 2 was released. They further expanded the audience, particularly Latino and Hispanic moviegoers who showed up at 48% to Caucasian’s 34%, 10% Black, 2% Asian and 5% Native American/other.”
