Warner Brothers Presentation
- The presentation layout is stunning, featuring captions from every film WB has released. It’s awe-inspiring to see the legacy, decades of influence, and impact this studio has had on cinema. As one of the original studios that helped shape Hollywood into what it is today, their film legacy is undeniable. I genuinely hope WB doesn’t sell.
- Patton Oswalt! He’s here as the WB host and is simply hilarious. I loved his opening monologue. While expressing his love for cinema and passion for watching movies in theaters, he thanked theaters for perhaps their most innovative invention—the cup holder. Oswalt mentioned that we’ve watched 117 movies in theaters (yes, he put me to shame). He appeared so at ease hosting that the entire presentation ran nearly 40 minutes over schedule.

- Mike DeLuca and Pam Abdy serve as co-CEOs of WB. They recently oversaw the current Best Picture winner, One Battle After Another. The duo has expanded their yearly film releases from 6 to 11, including Oscar-nominated titles like Sinners, One Battle After Another, and Weapons. By 2027, this number is set to rise to 14 releases annually. Their films have collectively grossed over 4 billion dollars at the box office. Overall, the WB CEOs’ opening statements are optimistic and hopeful.
- Clockwork is a new WB independent film division, and it announced a new film by Academy Award-winning Sean Baker titled Ti Amo.
- What followed was a montage of upcoming movies slated for 2027, mostly just announcements with vague release windows. Jack Black opened the video by announcing a Minecraft 2 release. M Night Shyamalan’s new film Remain is a ghost story, while Panic Carefully is a new thriller written and directed by Sam Esmail. There will be a new Ocean’s installment featuring Margot Robbie as part of Danny Ocean’s family. Other films include Bad Fairies (with Cynthia Erivo), an animated movie; Marhie Claus, a Christmas animated film starring Melissa McCarthy; and Man of Tomorrow, which continues the Superman Saga in 2027. Keanu Reeves stars in Shiver, directed by Tim Miller. There’s also Evil Dead Raft, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, and The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, set to release on December 17, 2027.

- The very first film presentation was for Digger, starring Tom Cruise and directed by Academy Award-winning Alejandro G. Iñárritu, marking their first collaboration. The initial discussion about making the film happened seven years ago, after Tom Cruise finished filming Top Gun: Maverick. The mutual admiration between Tom and Alejandro is obvious. Watching the first footage, I was blown away—this looks incredible. Tom Cruise is in a highly transformative role, physically unrecognizable, with an accent and comedic elements. This film is a completely different project for both Iñárritu and Cruise. I can’t wait to see the full movie. Additionally, John Goodman is also impressive in the brief glimpse I saw.
- Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor star in The End of Oak Street, which releases on August 14th. It appeared to be a post-apocalyptic thriller that caught my interest.
- Evil Dead Burn is set to release on July 10th. I watched a new trailer along with some unseen footage. It seems intriguing, but I’m not sure if I want to watch it. It does look quite gruesome though.
- Mortal Kombat II is set to release on May 8th. The footage we saw was really impressive. I will definitely watch this movie.
- The Cat in the Hat is the debut animated film, and WB has introduced a new animated logo. A new trailer is out, with a release date of November 6th. It was okay, but nothing particularly stood out to me.
- Peter Sifriend, head of DC Studios, announced that Clay Face will be released on October 23rd. The preview I saw was impressive and definitely made the film one to watch.
- This June, Supergirl will be released in theaters. Milly Alcock shares her experience playing Kara. Jason Momoa also discusses his role as Lobo. The film is set in space, spanning multiple planets and languages. Milly doesn’t seem very enthusiastic about the movie, which seems to reflect her personality rather than the film itself. The scene we saw was decent; I didn’t mind it.

- Practical Magic 2 features Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman! I enjoyed the footage—big shoutout to Xolo! As a fan of the first film, this brings pure nostalgia. The original cast is back, and both Bullock and Kidman mention how recreating the house and set felt like stepping back in time. It’s set to be released on September 11th.
- JJ Abrams is here to discuss The Great Beyond, featuring Glenn Powell, Jenna Ortega, Samuel L. Jackson, and Emma Mackie, releasing on November 13, 2026. The footage appeared compelling, but I need to see more to gauge my interest.

- Dennis Villeneuve, director of Dune: Part Three, takes the stage. He explains that the first two films closely followed the source material, but for this final installment, he has made some deviations. He describes it as more fast-paced, action-packed, and designed for the fans. Jason Momoa, Zendaya, and Timothée Chalamet joined Villeneuve to discuss the film. We also saw the first seven minutes of Dune: Part Three. It was incredible—scope, sound, and visuals were outstanding. Villeneuve gave us a glimpse into a war zone, with palpable danger, claustrophobia, and fear. Although I feel lucky to have watched the opening minutes, I now face an eight-month wait. Ugh!
